Tuberculosis
Haiti is known to have the highest occurrence of tuberculosis (TB) in the Western Hemisphere (CDC Global Health - Haiti 2019). According to the CDC, the approximate population that is diagnosed with TB is 181 out of 100,000 people.

According to the Center of Disease Control, there is an approximate success rate of tuberculosis treatment of 82%, the highest among other Caribbean and Latin America (CDC Global Health - Haiti 2019). To facilitate a decrease in the spread of TB and aid in early detection, the CDC has created more diagnostic laboratories throughout Haiti.
Covid-19
Like the United States, Covid made its way through the country of Haiti as well.

Total Cases: 8,600 (since March 19, 2020)
Cases per one million people: 743
Total number recovered: 6,363
Total deaths: 221

In hopes of tackling this pandemic, Haiti officials stopped commercial flights, enforced masks, closure of school and large gatherings (Liautaud, Ehre, & Deschamps, 2020).

Haiti made swift efforts to reduce the spread of Covid-19. They first began by testing all symptomatic patients, but have adapted into primarly testing pregnant women, patients with co-morbidities, patients with atypical symptoms, and healthcare workers (Liautaud, Ehre, & Deschamps, 2020).

HIV/AIDS
Alongside of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes, is HIV. HIV is also a leading cause of death in Haiti. According to the CDC, there were approximately 2,200 deaths related to HIV in 2018.

In response to the detrimental effects of HIV, the CDC has assisted the Haitian Ministry of Public Health to create a HIV response program (citation). They have created more availability to HIV testing, treatments, and prevention programs throughout Haiti.
